Communications and Marketing Manager

Purple is seeking a smart, collaborative and versatile Communications and Marketing Manager to work with our Managing Director, Communications, Marketing and Engagement, to build, transform and leverage the tools, processes, structures and strategies that will allow us to shape and share Purple’s story inside our firm and out. This role offers a unique blend of the benefits and experiences of being an in-house communications and marketing professional within the energetic and creative environment of a rapidly growing agency: a jill or jack of all trades and a communicator’s communicator.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and oversee project plans for the team, coordinating internal and external resources and helping to ensure projects move forward on time and on budget
  • Write strategic communications materials (social content, newsletter copy, thought leadership articles, communications plans, website copy, employee emails) with limited first-draft oversight and within the voice of the brand
  • Lead and execute communications projects on behalf of the team, in coordination with in-house (and occasionally external) experts, such as developing/maintaining our content calendar, launching social ads, managing newsletters, updating microsites, planning webinars, keeping video projects moving through production, and running employee engagement activities on Slack
  • Foster strong relationships with partners within Purple (e.g., creative and insights teams, operations team, client service leaders, executives) and outside the firm (e.g., freelancers and creative partners, partners at digital tools/platforms)
  • Champion a program of targeted, integrated thought leadership development and profile-raising through publishing, events and speaking engagements for key executives, focused on building critical relationships
  • Leverage social/digital monitoring and analytics tools to develop actionable reporting and guide strategy
  • Provide quality control on team deliverables, ensuring they are strategic, ready for their audience, and reflect the firm’s point of view and best thinking
  • Serve as an ambassador for the firm, its people and its culture within the agency, the industry, and the broader business community

 

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • 3-6 years of in-house communications or marketing (corporate, nonprofit or association) and/or agency experience
  • Superb writing and proofreading skills across a variety of formats (blog posts, social copy, public opinion polling results, newsletters, press releases, etc.)
  • Experience with basic creative/design – either in the creator’s seat, by having a good eye, and/or overseeing its development and execution
  • Digital and social media savvy
  • Excellent organization, client service and communication skills
  • Exceptional time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple projects at once and adapt to change when needed
  • Open-minded and respectful to multiple points of view and comfortable collaborating closely with others
  • Commitment to handling confidential and sensitive information with care
  • Pride in doing both the small things and the big things well
