The Position:

Purple Strategies is hiring a strong, experienced proposal writer and manager to support our business development efforts. The Senior Business Development Manager is an adaptable writer who can write compelling content and will manage the collaborative proposal development process from a go/no-go decision through strategy development, presentation management, writing, and submission.  We are looking for a smart, organized, innovative team player with at least 6 years’ experience in business development, marketing or branding, preferably on behalf of a professional services firm.

The Senior Business Development Manager will report to the Executive Director, Brand and Business Development and will work closely across teams to effectively coordinate & communicate Purple’s unique offering with Fortune 500 companies, trade associations and other organizations with respect to business growth and development.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Manage the completion of complex RFPs (writing content, managing the process, working across the organization to assimilate information, and adhering to tight deadlines)
  • Establish timelines with target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval
  • Write materials such as credentials decks, proposals, and case studies to be used in marketing and business development
  • Produce content for marketing-related efforts including promotional material, presentations, and collateral
  • Work with the Executive Director, Brand and Business Development to improve proposal results by evaluating and re-designing process, approach, coordination, and boilerplate information, and then implement changes
  • Develop a deep understanding of Purple’s offering and apply that understanding while developing content for prospective business opportunities
  • Partner with colleagues to create proposals & discussion documents for new business opportunities
  • Receive inbound inquiries and distribute leads to relevant colleagues
  • Maintain a proposal database and proposal tracking tools
  • Research the latest issues and trends impacting a target or existing Purple Strategies client to develop new business and develop relevant backgrounders as needed

 

What We're Looking For:

  • 6+ years of Business Development experience, preferably in a professional services firm with strong writing skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional proposal writing, drafting, positioning skills
  • Ability to synthesize information quickly, multi-task, prioritize, manage time effectively
  • Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Self-motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm
