About Purple’s Summer Internship Program

Purple Strategies offers a paid summer internship program designed to expose students to multiple facets of our business and the opportunity to learn from industry experts.

At Purple, we integrate interns onto client teams where they contribute to team projects and assignments from day one. No two days are the same, so we seek interns who have strong organization and time management skills. 

Interns are exposed to a variety of projects, clients, and industries and will explore various professional trajectories and possible career paths. Additionally, interns will spend part of their time on an internship project where they will develop a polished, client-ready deliverable for their portfolio.

This is a full-time paid internship that runs from June 2 through August 15 and requires 30 to 40 hours per week. Interns receive an hourly compensation of $18.00 plus a travel reimbursement to assist with commuting to the office. Purple Strategies offers a hybrid work arrangement and seeks interns who are available to work in its Alexandria, VA or Chicago, IL office for a portion of their work hours each week.

Eligibility And Qualifications

Interns must be a college junior, senior, or recent graduate (within 6 months) with strong communication and critical thinking skills and be able to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Other qualifications include:

  • An open and demonstrated interest in the field of public policy, public affairs, communications, research and/or a similar career area
  • Fundamental writing and research skills 
  • Strong organizational skills and time management
  • Ability to present ideas and information clearly and strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively on projects, while also being comfortable working independently
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools. Experience working within Mac environment is a plus
  • Social media platform management and reporting knowledge, is a plus

Responsibilities

The Purple Internship program is designed to provide valuable learning and career-launching experiences for the next generation of professionals.

While responsibilities will vary by client team assignment, general responsibilities can include:

  • Develop concise subject matter briefings (also known as backgrounders)
  • Act as a learning-focused participant in client work, including helping to coordinate logistics for meetings, project updates and overall team communication
  • Assist with conducting intelligence gathering, social media monitoring, and the research process.
  • Closely collaborate with research and insights team, cross-client etc.
  • Participate in internship training programs and with support from Purple colleagues, produce and present internship project
