Molly Banta joins Purple after a historic 2022 midterm with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee where she oversaw the committee’s western coordinated investment and voter contact programs. Prior to the DSCC, she served as Deputy Campaign Manager to Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia, and Campaign Manager to Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher of Houston. Her career includes campaigns across 12 states, as well as a stint in direct mail where she developed a deep appreciation for how to convey the right message to an audience with limited attention. She moved often growing up, and loves how authentically campaigns facilitate reconnecting with once-familiar places. A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Molly loves to swim, ski and play tennis.
“When faced with a daunting problem to solve, people naturally gravitate towards answering and debating what is familiar. What separates a good leader from a great one is their ability to, in every meeting and interaction, resist prioritizing the familiar for the sake of comfort.”
“I think of writing and executing a winning campaign plan like the math proofs I studied in college. Start by mixing some inspiration and art with a heavy dose of your fundamentals, and interrogate the hell out of every step: is this logical, true and does it serve my objective? If the answer is no, change the plan.”
“My career is guided by two mantras: all work is teamwork and iron sharpens iron. I ran DIII cross country and coached a girl’s summer league tennis team. Two seemingly individual sports where a strong ‘iron sharpens iron’ team culture will level up every player, every time. Individual motivation is a fickle resource; hard work fostered on an island will simply never be as successful as teammates challenging and motivating each other every day. Purple knows this, and it’s why they never miss.”
