Kate has been immersed in the political media landscape of Washington, D.C. her entire life. Before landing at Purple, she was a Professor of English and Creative Writing for over a decade at Northern Virginia Community College and The George Washington University. This professional trajectory set a familiarity and understanding that proved beneficial in her approach to not only educating adult learners from all walks of life but is now a key factor to her success in supporting the education of Purple people. As Purple’s first Director of Learning and Development, Kate helps create learning resources and opportunities that upskill staff and fosters development at all levels and curriculum that further establishes what it means to be Purple across the firm. Kate is a proud double alum of George Mason University where she earned her B.A. in English/Creative Writing with a minor in Film and Media Studies and her M.F.A. in Creative Nonfiction Writing.
